Shorter Seasons Are Better

*Spoilers*

One of best shows to come out of Disney+ is The Bad Batch, a tv show that follows a group genetically altered Clones, who go on missions and kill everything in their path. The show is very entertaining, filled with action, deep emotions, good plot, pretty much everything Star Wars fans have been begging the studio for years. However, I find one flaw to the show. Its too long.

There are some episodes, not many in the 16-episode season, feel like fillers. My main interest in the show is seeing The Bad Batch on the run from the newly formed Empire and one of their rogue members Crosshairs, who might be one of the greatest villains Star Wars has ever made.

I would’ve liked to see the show maybe be about 10-12 episodes at the most. I mean the filler episodes did have some value. They added some depth to some characters and some plot points found themselves later on in the season, but I really hated coming off such a high on some episodes and then brought back down to Earth an episode later.

So, what do you think about longer season? Would you rather have more seasons, or more episodes and less seasons?

Big Mouth Season 5

Big Mouth Season 5: Expected Release Date on Netflix Animated Series - Daily Research Plot

Spoilers

Sadly, this is the season is the shows downfall. Big Mouth was one of my favorite shows, but they jumped the shark on this one. Why did they think breaking the 4th wall, and having character Nick meet real life Nick Kroll would be a good idea?   Worst of all, it explains how the show is just a show.

Nick would return to Earth, realizing that his life is not real at all and he’s at the mercy of the writers. Where is the comedy in that? Where is the exploring of these characters? Is he supposed to go through the rest of the series knowing he isn’t real? Does that effect the other cast members? Terrible idea and seemed like they had nothing else to do in this show. Might be overthinking a bit, but that’s how I feel.

Besides that, the season was ok. It started off really strong until it hit the Christmas episode. Again, a bad idea for an episode. You could’ve easily had a Christmas episode about the events of what’s going on, but having a random anthology again is a waste of time. It was funny, but the show overall is so well written and plots very thought out, it just seemed the writers drew a blank and thought “this is fine”.

I don’t see Big Mouth being renewed for another season and if they do, I don’t see it going on much longer. I would’ve liked to see the characters grow up every year. I don’t really know if the show follows a yearly timeline. I don’t recall a lot of holiday episodes so maybe this entire series could’ve taken place over a year or two.

Eventually they will start having sex I think, and having them do this as children would seem…..kinda weird. I mean we already had Jay and Lola do finger stuff….I don’t think I could’ve worded it better, but it happened. So sex would be the next thing the show explores, but I don’t think the show will go on long enough to get to that.

What do you think about the new season of Big Mouth and how many more season do you think it’ll go?

Is Loki Stronger Than Thor?

Still can't get over the fact that Thor literally started choking Tony in AoU and nobody blinked an eye : r/marvelstudios

Just follow me on this one.

Remember in Thor, after he got his mantle stripped by Oden and shot to Earth. Thor was just a regular guy after that. He was beating security guards on his way to recover the hammer, but wasn’t destroying them. Thor was even taking some blows by a bigger opponent.

And then you have Loki, who with one hand threw a 200+ pound Tony Stark through a window in The Avengers. Is this because Loki is an Ice Giant compacted into a Tom Hiddleston sized body or does Thor have more vanity muscles than actual strength muscles.

What about Thor’s friends? Are they enhanced by Oden in some way or just the best of the best? Just curious of what you guys think.

Two For The Money

The best kinds of movies show adversity in the face of failure. That putting in hard work is the best way to get success and the easy way out is never the answer. Writer Dan Gilroy decided to go in the complete opposite direction with this movie.

Two for the Money [2005]: Review - High On Films

Two For The Money is about a man named Brandon, played by Matthew McConaughey, who makes money advising people on sports betting. After growing success, Brandon is approached by Walter, played by Al Pacino, who operates one of the biggest sports advising firms in the world.

Quickly Brandon is taken under Walter’s wing and experiences the high life of being a celebrity and making more money than he knows what to do with. Brandon’s ego soars to new heights and eventually starts making picks at random and asking his employees “So who do you like this weekend” to simply prove that whatever he writes down will happen.

Then, something very odd happens, Brandon starts losing. And losing. And losing. Until Brandon reputation is in jeopardy and Walter’s company is on the verge of bankruptcy. Brandon decides to go back to the old him. The guy who would study up on games, call coaches and medical staff to get some inside info, and spending every waking hour on his job. But keeps losing worse than ever. Clients call Brandon after losing all their money, desperate for advice or just to tell him off.

Two for the Money (2005) - IMDb

With a massive upcoming football game, Brandon does the unthinkable, he flips a coin. After telling Walter of this, Walter doubles down and “guarantees” victory. Which means, “you tell us how much you’re betting. You lose. We cover. That’s risk-free sports betting,” a move that would surely lead to Walter’s demise.

Brandon desperately tries to get Walter to reverse this, but Walter refuses. I don’t know if at this point Walter even believes in Brandon or just loves the drama. The movie’s climax is simply Brandon leaving. He writes a goodbye note to Walter, heads to the airport where he watches the end of the game and leaves. Somehow Brandon’s coin flip was correct, Walter’s company is saved and that’s it.

Two for the Money - Reeling Reviews

So, we had a movie whose message is “if the going gets tough, run”. Imagine if Brandon was wrong. He would be running out on Walter, who is now finished. Having to pay back millions he doesn’t have to sports betters. This gamble could’ve easily gone South. And what about all the people who Brandon got into debt? Not a good message. Not a good movie.

John Walker: The Future of the MCU

Falcon and Winter Soldier: The New Captain America Is Actually a Good Guy

Sometimes I’m really glad my wife doesn’t read my posts, because John Walker is a topic we argue about a lot. Falcon and The Winter Soldier was a race baiting, pandering, poorly executed show, but it did do one thing right and that’s John Walker.

Lets look at where the main characters were before the show:

-Bucky was rehabilitated

-Sam took on the mantle of Captain America

-Zemo was in prison

And as the show ended

-Bucky went back to be rehabilitated

-Sam took on the mantle of Captain America

-Zemo is back in prison

Having the characters take a 360 degrees character arch isn’t good story telling. But Walker was different. He might be one of the most well-developed characters the MCU ever produced. A character who had the mantle of Captain America thrusted on him. A guy who is a military hero, a superior athlete and someone who most importantly gets the job done.

Is John Walker Evil? - New Captain America AKA US Agent Episode 4 Twist

Walker’s suit is the best one yet and I love the scene where Walker makes his own shield. A great homage to the comics where Walker made his own shields and outfitted them with medals he earned and names of soldiers who died in battle.

I find the “How it Should’ve Ended” video weird because it shows Steve Rogers taking the shield from Walker with no problem. Let me start a fight here. Walker would utterly destroy Rogers. The first reason is the serum, this one is much more powerful than the one Rogers got. When Rogers took it, he was a small, wimpy kid. Walker was an athlete when he took it. He was at the peak of his physical abilities. And then takes a serum that amplifies that. I mean it made tiny Carlie into a threat. Imagine what it did to a high trained, physically gifted soldier like Walker.

With Walker siding with Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, who at some point becomes Madame Hydra, it’s obvious that he will be a big character moving forward. We are seeing Fontaine align herself with a few other MCU characters looking to start The Dark Avengers, a team I imagine will have Walker front and center.

What do you think about the MCU Dark Avengers being similar to the original six Avengers?: marvelstudios

So what do you think of John Walker? Do you like his role in the TV show and his fate moving forward?

Mute

Mute Teaser Takes Netflix 40 Years Into the Future

I think this is how Duncan Jones wrote this movie. He had an idea about a mute bartender looking for his girlfriend and another idea about military medics interrogating people for the mafia and decided to combine them.

Mute feels like an incomplete idea. Its very interesting. Great style, fun characters, action and looks esthetically pleasing, but like most Netflix products it falls apart the longer the story goes on. Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd were incredible as usual, but like I said before these two could’ve led their own separate movies.

Netflix unveils first trailer for Blade Runner-esque movie Mute

The movie is mainly about Leo, a mute man, looking for his “girlfriend” Naadirah I say in quotes because I don’t really know if they are exclusive. It seems like Leo is constantly friend zoned. So Naadirah goes missing and Leo goes on a journey to find her and digs up more of her troubled past. Its interesting, but not as good as Rudd’s story as Cactus Bill. Bill is a military medic deserter who now lives in Europe, making money doing jobs for the mafia. His best friend Duck a pedophile who is a pediatrician just so he can spy on children. Creepy, but I like these twos story a lot better than Leo’s.

Eventually you learn that Bill and Naadirah had a daughter and Bill killed his ex because she was going to take his kid away. The relationship reveal kinda came out of nowhere and seemed like a random way to connect the two stories. A lot of this movie scenes are “cool” ideas, but ultimately didn’t need to happen or lead anywhere logically.

Netflix's 'Mute' Movie Director Breaks Down 4 Memorable Scenes

In the end, Leo kills Bill and Duck knocks out Leo just to fix his voice box granting him the ability to talk, because Duck wants Leo to apologize to him for killing Bill…..yea….Netflix am I right?

Overall, the movie wasn’t terrible, its just a few tweeks here and there could’ve made this movie stand out. I don’t think Rudd was the best choice for Bill. Yea, Rudd is an incredible actor, but Bill is a ruthless killer who can turn from smile to fits of rage in a second. I didn’t think it was a great idea having him crack jokes throughout the movie.

Obviously, the ending was a terrible choice, but just the overall story wasn’t that interesting. The big twist was to sudden and didn’t have any buildup to it. They could’ve built an entire movie around Bill solely, but chose to try to combine two ideas that didn’t mesh together well. A better idea would be if Naadirah, in her secret life, somehow was involved with the mafia Bill was working for and that’s why she was taken in the first place.

Mute. It is not often that I watch something… | by Art K. Warren | Trash Can Movie Reviews | Medium

Overall, this is a very forgetful Netflix movie that had a lot of potential and incredibly acting by Skarsgard and Rudd. 5/10

Why Daniel Craig Was The Best Bond

James Bond: 007's best and worst movies, ranked

*Massive Spoilers

I’ve watched every single 007 movie to date and with Daniel Craig hanging it up forever, I can definitely say he was the best of the James Bonds. Mainly, because Craig’s Bond was a series and the others were just separate movies with no ties to each other. Craig’s Bond carries the heartache he experienced in Casino Royale and into No Time To Die.

The previous series were fun, but I never felt like I was on a journey. You can put on a Bond movie at random and not be confused at all of what’s going on. They aren’t the most complicated of movies. Villain with an over-the-top plan, cool gadgets, hot woman and happily ever after. Not saying they’re bad in any sense, just copy and paste. I never felt the emotional toll of Bond and what he did previously carry over into the other movies.

Pierce Brosnan says he has 'no regrets' about being replaced as James Bond: 'It's with you forever' | Fox News

Pierce Brosnan’s version of Bond showed him having to kill a woman he was falling for in Elektra King. Bond had no choice but to kill her and before Bond left the room he kissed her hard on the cheek feeling the weight of what he just did. And then the next movie he was cracking jokes and sleeping with Halle Berry like nothing happened.

In Craig’s version, Bond felt the emotion weight of seeing Vesper die well into the sequels. And when Bond falls for Madeleine, he is scared to lose her. When Bond meets his ultimate end he does it  because he wants to save Madeleine and his daughter. I wouldn’t have felt that Brosnan, Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and others making the same sacrifice. Yes, they all put their lives on the line for God and country in every movie, but Craig’s was an emotional sacrifice that couldn’t have been replicated with the other Bond’s because their sequels never felt like they were connected.

Twitter Reacts To Daniel Craig Saying Next James Bond Shouldn't Be Female - Maxim

Craig’s Bond was probably the least cool early on. He didn’t crack as many jokes as he predecessors. This Bond was more of a stone-cold killer who once in a while said something that made audiences smile. In No Time To Die the writers really made up for that. In one of my favorite scenes, Bond guns down bad guy after bad guy, then pours himself a drink and casually clinks glasses with another agent, walks outside and continues to mow bad guys down.

This Bond wasn’t perfect, but he was real. The stories that were told in his universe weren’t too outrageous. There was no outrunning a heat laser and then a massive tidal wave. His stories were more grounded and seemed more realistic.

Christian Bale on His Batman Performance: 'I Didn't Quite Nail It' - Variety

It reminds me of the Christian Bale Batman movies. Before Bale, the Batman villains were

Mr. Freeze, who was a man in suit keeping his body at freezing temperatures, powered by diamonds, who wanted to freeze the whole world.

Poison Ivy, who can communicate with plants and wanted to cover the world in man eating plants.

The Riddler, who wanted to put a cable box in every home in America so he can suck the secrets from their minds.

The Penguin who was a small man who…..yea he was just weird.

Who is the best Bond villain to appear in Daniel Craig's James Bond movies - Daniel Craig Bond movies - Fanpop

Craig main storylines were

Winning a game of poker to stop international terrorism

Stopping a guy from controlling the water supply overseas.

Stopping a rogue agent on quest for revenge

Stopping a group of terrorists

And finally stopping a madman from killing millions with a virus.

The final movie had the most world ending stakes and felt like a homage to the previous Bonds, but still remained in the realm of realism. And that’s why I love Daniel Craig as James Bond. He was a real person, dealing with trauma that stayed with him throughout the franchise, you cans see the age with the wear and tear on his body after so many years of doing this. And his ultimate end was the most poetic of the Bonds.

Why Do People Hate Peacock?

Peacock TV – Stream TV, Movies, Live Sports & News - Apps on Google Play

After the WWE Network was bought up by Peacock, there was oddly a lot of negative comments about the deal and that really confused me. The WWE Network cost about $10 and now for the same amount I can have the WWE Network and a ton of movies and shows on Peacock. Peacock already has a massive library of popular shows and movie. The Hunger Games, The Godfather, Harry Potter, Bourne and American Pie franchises were front in center. Also Brooklyn 99, Two and a Half Men and The Office were all great. Every week they add new movies and franchises as their contracts with other services expire.

Dr. Death's Bloody Entrance on Showcase - The GCE

There is also a lot of original content. Dr. Death was a series I was very excited for and they even made a documentary about the real-life events surrounding the show. There is also a lot of sport and even the Olympics on the streaming service. It really does seem like a win/win for wrestling fans and streaming fans alike.

The only thing I wished they did, and I know it’s kind of a first world problem, is if they have a full chronological order all the WWE events. As I was watching old episodes of Raw and Smackdown, I was lost sometimes because I forget about shows like Heat and Velocity existed. Both of those shows were very important to the overall story.

WWE On Peacock: Everything You Need To Know

But, overall, Peacock seems to be doing the WWE fans justice with the streaming service. Every now and then I see fans online that the app crashes on them and they can’t watch live events sometimes, but that’s just something that happens with streaming services, especially live ones. You can expect it to all work perfectly every time.

Maybe fans are just choosing to be negative about the deal or there is some other meaning that I cant figure out yet. Ether way, Peacock is a win for everyone and I would highly recommend it for WWE fans or to people who are looking for a new streaming service to try.
