Don’t Sign Him!

Who Is Danhausen And Why Is He Your New Favorite Wrestler? - GameSpot

I’m hearing rumors that AEW is looking to sign free agent wrestler Danhausen to the company. I can’t think of a worst waste of time signing. I will admit my knowledge of Danhausen is very limited. I haven’t watched every single moment of his career or watched every video he posted BUT I did watch enough of his current matches and videos to learn all I needed to form an opinion.

Danhausen & Mance Warner Suffer Leg Injuries on Halloween Show

Danhausen is a gimmick comedic wrestler and that’s it. His wrestling ability is “okay” at best. His comedy is eh. His character I guess is looking to be the Joker on crack, but is that enough to warrant a contract to the best wrestling company in the world right now? Absolutely not.

Now I will argue against signing characters who are prop comedy, but at the same time defend Orange Cassidy. Because Cassidy has a Jekyll and Hyde style of wrestling. In the beginning of the matches Cassidy will joke around and play to the crowd, but in a second turn into Mr. Hyde and become an imposing force. Cassidy and Danhausen are not even close in wrestling ability and character likability.

A Drink at the Inn With: Danhausen – Wrestle Inn

More importantly, AEW’s roster is so massive that a lot of wrestlers are being pushed aside for new talent. When Bryan Danielson signed with AEW he was featured in extremely long matches to start, and when he was feuding with Hangman Page, he was featured in Dynamites a few weeks in a row. That takes time away from other talents. Especially when Dynamite is only a 2-hour show.

Another great example is when Jay Lethal signed to AEW. Lethal had an amazing debut against Sammy Guevara and then after he was moved to Dark, teamed with Sonny Kiss and is essentially out of any major storyline.

Love That Danhausen

So, if Danhausen is signed to AEW, what would he be in the company? He wouldn’t be looked at as a top tier wrestler like Kenny Omega. He won’t be booked to be the next big like hook. He wouldn’t be a slow burn rising up the ranks like a Jungle Boy or Darby Allin. He would be just a filler in Dark or Elevation. He might find himself standing across the ring facing Adam Cole and I say that because I enjoy watching Adam Cole get annoyed with other wrestlers. But realistically, I don’t see a point in signing Danhausen. He’s not the guy to take your company to the next level or a signing so great it puts other companies out of business.

So what do you think of Danhausen?

Shane McMahon Done?

There are plans for Shane McMahon to wrestle at WWE WrestleMania - Wrestling News

It’s been reported, but not fully elaborated, that Shane McMahon has been released by the WWE or his creative writes have been taken away. I’m reading many conflicting reports on this, but essentially the fallout is about his booking of the Royal Rumble. He apparently inserted himself in the match and was one of the final competitors in it.

The choice of having Brock Lesnar win the Rumble was the smart and correct choice. It doesn’t matter if Lesnar is mostly a part timer, his storyline with Roman Reigns is the best one in all of wrestling now. Shane having input in that ending wasn’t insulting to the roster. Shane putting himself in the match wasn’t annoying for me.

I never thought Shane wasn’t a good wrestler, but I did think he was pushed in matches he shouldn’t be in. He shouldn’t be on a Survivor Series team; he shouldn’t have been in the Best in the World final. I guess the reason why is because Shane is also being booked as a part timer.

Report: Shane McMahon back with WWE through WrestleMania 38 - Cageside Seats

Shane is actually a very good wrestler. He can really sell a move and has the ability to keep up in a match, but sometimes he does look too over powered, especially with the punches. And a lot of the matches he’s in have to have some kind of dramatic hardcore moment, because he’s not as dynamic as other wrestlers.

My only issue with the Rumble was the exclusion of Cesaro and Finn Balor and a few others. Bad Bunny wasn’t a death sentence to the Rumble either. I don’t think he’s a bad athlete, but maybe having him in so late was the issue. For me, the Rumble doesn’t really start until like number 20, after all the cannon fodder have been thrown out.

I am hearing reports that working with Shane is very stressful, because apparently if he doesn’t get his way he pulls rank and forces changes. If that’s the case then yes I support him being let go from that position, but if this is a matter of it wasn’t the ending some fans wanted then that’s an unfair firing or demotion.

Brian Kendrick: Love It / Hate It

Brian Kendrick, former WWE wrestler, has finally be granted his release from the company and instantly got signed to AEW AND has a match tonight against Jon Moxley!

I love the signing because Kendrick was probably one of the most undervalued and underrated WWE wrestlers in his time there. He held the Tag Titles with Paul London, but wasn’t as talked about as they should’ve been. The Tag division at that time was very limited. Even when Kendrick had singles run, it was still lack lustered and devoid of any impact. I would’ve to see Kendrick as that Dark Horse wrestler that would be just at the cusp of stardom for years before finally squeezing into the title picture to win it all. Kendrick on AEW adds a whole bunch of dream matches and factions he can be apart of. He still looks in great shape and still carries the same charisma, so no reason why he can’t create some big moments in AEW.

I hate the signing of Kendrick in AEW. Yeah, he has a match against Jon Moxley to start his AEW career, but do we really expect him to win this match? And more importantly, spring board Kendrick into the top tier? Jay Lethal showed up, had a great match against Sammy Guevara and is now buried on Dark. Kendrick and Lethal deserve a lot more respect than that. Both men can still put on a great match, both men are in great shape.

What do you think of Brian Kendrick signing with AEW and how far is his ceiling?

Cain Velasquez : Needed Better Booking

Cain Velasquez makes worrying guarantee to Brock Lesnar ahead of WWE Crown Jewel showdown | WWE | Sport | Express.co.uk

I would’ve kept Cain Velasquez with the Mysterios for the beginning of his WWE career. They brought him in to lose to Brock Lesnar with very little effort, which after I saw that I imagined this would be leading towards a WrestleMania rematch with Lesnar and potentially winning the WWE Championship.

After the initial loss, I thought he story going forward was to learn from Rey, be taken under his wing, develop his wrestling ability and start moving up the ladder. Maybe winning the Royal Rumble or Money in the Bank. Either way would’ve been a good way to push Velasquez to a big title match.

The WWE doesn’t have many fighters like Velasquez on the roster, Lesnar is the closest thing to that. So having a wrestler on the roster with those abilities would be an asset. Maybe even have both of them on separate brands and the two can meet up at Survivor Series, both as champions.

But what do you think of Velasquez’s time in wrestling and how would you have booked him?

Tucker and Otis

Who Will Win WWE Elimination Chamber: Heavy Machinery - The Overtimer

What a wasted opportunity. Their lack of NXT Tag Titles or Tag Titles on the main roster showed that they were never a realistic team in the eyes of the creative team? Now Otis finally achieved gold teaming with Chad Gable and Tucker has been long released.

Tucker was poised for a great run by betraying Otis and seemingly joining the Miz and John Morrison. Which I think didn’t last longer than that brief moment of betrayal. The idea of Tucker being the muscle for a team that is primarily not a threat to the landscape of the WWE was actually a good idea, but as usual a lot of creative ideas in the past few years.

When WWE Decided Tucker Would Turn On Otis & Help Miz Win Money In The Bank

And so many things could’ve been done with Tucker moving forward. Even if you didn’t see him as world champion, he still could’ve been something. Shelton Benjamin might be the biggest world champion snub in WWE history, but he’s had a massively impressive career. Big spots in Money in the Bank matches and always a filler in the Royal Rumble and can easily be the second or third in a faction. Tucker had a lot of potential when he turned on Otis. Otis had a lot of potential after that betrayal as well. But the WWE saw Otis as a singles star and concocted a ridiculous storyline where he ends up in a relationship with Mandy Rose. Which was another storyline that was pushed on us for weeks and weeks and after WrestleMania the idea was scrapped.

Tucker and Otis were the products of horrible writing. Honestly, I wouldn’t have moved them up to the main roster when they did. No team should be moved to the main roster without a title run. I don’t think I really even believed in the tag team as a massive threat. I felt like Otis now is a better wrestler than he was a few years ago. But the duo was still a better choice for tag champions than Miz and Morrison, or the Usos and The New Day for the hundredth time.

So how do you feel about Tucker and Otis and what different things would you have done with them?

The WWE Wants Jeff Hardy Again

Report: WWE Wants Jeff Hardy BACK

I have been a massive fan of Jeff Hardy for the entirety of this WWE career. I saw him in the WWF, go to TNA and back to the WWE and I can really say with certainty that Jeff isn’t worth the trouble anymore. I’m sorry, but the guy has had a massive drug problem for years and its caused him to be released before. He did one of the worst things in wrestling, showing up high to a main event pay per view championship match against Sting. It was one of the worst nights for wrestling ever as a fan.

Yeah, people can get the help they need, people can get better, but people can also relapse back into bad habits and from a purely business standpoint Jeff isn’t worth the risk. Jon Moxley went to rehab for a few months and is now back with a sense of purpose, but he didn’t cost the company money. Moxley wasn’t in any major storyline, he didn’t get arrested, he didn’t do anything that made AEW look bad.

Matt Hardy Reacts To WWE Putting Jeff Hardy In The 24/7 Title Picture

Jeff signing with AEW sounds good on paper, but honestly not the signing they need. It will jump up their ratings, we might get a dream match or two, but in the end, we really don’t need either of them in AEW. The Hardys aren’t the same wrestlers as they were 10 years ago. Both men are slower and can’t move like they used to. And a lot of the AEW big name signings are hot for a week or two and then pushed down to the bottom of the roster. Matt Hardy showed up, had a match against the Inner Circle and now is leading a faction that makes no sense.

Jeff singing will do what? They’ll have some matches against the Young Bucks, FTR, Butcher and Blade, maybe the Inner Circle, but in the end they will have their moment and that’s it. If this is about “one last ride” like Dustin Rhodes, I understand it, but if people think the Hardys will be the longest reigning tag team champions in AEW history they are going to be horribly disappointed.

AEW Rejecting Jeff Hardy For Bad Reason?

The Hardy Boyz were one of the most unique and impressive tag teams in wrestling history. They created some amazing moments and brought in millions of fans, but their time is over now. Matt was never the guy to lead a company and I wouldn’t be able to trust Jeff at this point. And seeing them in one or two matches and pushed to the bottom of the roster isn’t a proper way to end their time in wrestling.

Damian Priest : Should’ve Stayed in NXT

From Motley Crue to Bad Bunny: WWE's Damian Priest Talks Rock-Star Attitude | Revolver

I know Damian Priest is a great United States Champion. The WWE is doing everything right with Priest. Great feuds, believable matches, great storylines. Priest is a perfectly constructed character who is poised for an extremely long title run and WWE career.

HOWEVER, I wouldn’t have moved him to the main roster yet. I would’ve liked to see Priest hold the NXT Championship for a little. He did have some matches against Johnny Gargano, but I would’ve liked to see that feud be for the NXT Championship. Maybe see if Priest could beat Keith Lee or Karrion Kross.

United States Title open challenge announced for tonight's WWE Raw - Wrestling News

Priest didn’t suffer not having an NXT run and it would be interesting to see who he feuds against next. Don’t like Apollo Crews wanting to be his next opponent, but it would be some good wrestling that’s for sure.

Warhorse : No Contract?

AEW : HUGE Win!

Jon Moxley going to rehab worked out TREMENDOUSLY for AEW. Moxley going to rehab was such a shock to the wrestling world because how quietly it happened. When was the last time a superstar at Moxley’s level of popularity went to rehab without a massive story? To my knowledge there was no DWI or his being arrested for drunk and disorderly or anyone getting hurt. There was just a simple announcement on social media and that was it. AEW didn’t have to debate firing one of the best and most popular wrestlers in the world right now.

Moxley coming back was a huge announcement. I was a little surprised that AEW even announced his return. I figured it would just be a wrestler is out giving a promo and BAM Moxley returns. AEW crushed it in the ratings that Dynamite because of his return.

Jon Moxley's AEW Return CONFIRMED!

In Moxley’s absence, Eddie Kingston was involved in a series of matches with Daniel Garcia, 2.0 and the Inner Circle, which were all great matches and give Garcia and 2.0 big named feuds.

So, Moxley announced his rehab that didn’t result in a black stain for AEW, nobody got fired, AEW killed it in the ratings with his return, a lot of wrestlers got featured in big matches because of it, Moxley gave the best speech of his career AND brought awareness to substance abuse and getting people the help they need. AEW got extremely lucky with how this situation turned out and the company is now doing better because of it.

Eddie Kingston: No Plan For Him

I didn’t know much about Kingston and the first time I saw him wrestle was against Cody Rhodes for the TNT Title. It was a good match, but it didn’t warrant what happened next for Kingston. He somehow was leading a team of Butcher, Blade, Bunny, Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr which none of them members helped him in his title match with Jon Moxley shortly after the team was formed. I argued that Kingston should’ve won that title match, even though he wasn’t the better wrestler. Mainly because Moxley was by himself at that time.

Now Kingston is putting on more impressive matches and again being paired off with mix matched wrestlers. Now he’s hanging with Santana and Ortiz, which is again weird because those two should still be with the Inner Circle and now they are with Kingston….because of reasons?

It just seems like AEW, at this point, doesn’t have a direction for Kingston and is randomly pairing him off until something sticks. But how would you book Kingston now and what pairing makes sense?
