Brodie Lee: A Place Holder Champion

Before Lee held on to the TNT title for AEW, he was a constant snub for WWE Championships as Luke Harper. The year 2017 was difficult for Harper because that was when he made the most noise on Smackdown Live and should’ve been WWE Champion that year. They had the perfect setup, make the match a Triple Threat against Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt and have Harper pick up the win. Triple Threats are the best way to protect other wrestlers’ image and give surprising wins. It probably wouldn’t have been a record-setting run, but it was what the fans wanted at the time.

Moving over to AEW was, sadly, Lee’s final destination.  He was taken from us too early, and we never got to see his full potential. People rave about his character and his hilarious promos mocking his former boss Vince McMahon, but honestly, I’d rather see the guy wrestle high-profile matches. Lee lost to Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship but then beat Cody Rhodes to hold the TNT Championship. After seriously injuring Cody, Lee went on to wrestle 3 matches. Tag match, a match with Dustin Rhodes, and a match against Orange Cassidy. And then, when Cody was done filming a talent show, he came back and easily beat Lee. Sadly, Lee died a few months after that match.

Lee/Harper never had “It,” which is something that can’t be logically explained, but you know it when you see it. Braun Strowman was also paired with Lee, Wyatt, and Erik Rowan but went on to hold championship gold and wrestle high-profile matches and feuds with top-tier wrestlers while Lee was there to fill up time slots.

Lee was never Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, John Cena, AJ Styles, or Randy Orton, but he was someone who could lead the mid-card division, and there’s no shame in that. The Miz might be the greatest mid-card champion of all time and can easily make a show great with his presence. The WWE and AEW never really believed in Lee. Smackdown Live’s slogan was “The Land of Opportunity,” and AEW’s business model is to give everyone a chance to shine. Sadly, Lee didn’t shine as brightly as Cody did and never got a chance to live up to his full potential.

What do you think? Was Lee properly used? And what dream matches would we have wanted to see?

Shorter Seasons Are Better

*Spoilers*

One of best shows to come out of Disney+ is The Bad Batch, a tv show that follows a group genetically altered Clones, who go on missions and kill everything in their path. The show is very entertaining, filled with action, deep emotions, good plot, pretty much everything Star Wars fans have been begging the studio for years. However, I find one flaw to the show. Its too long.

There are some episodes, not many in the 16-episode season, feel like fillers. My main interest in the show is seeing The Bad Batch on the run from the newly formed Empire and one of their rogue members Crosshairs, who might be one of the greatest villains Star Wars has ever made.

I would’ve liked to see the show maybe be about 10-12 episodes at the most. I mean the filler episodes did have some value. They added some depth to some characters and some plot points found themselves later on in the season, but I really hated coming off such a high on some episodes and then brought back down to Earth an episode later.

So, what do you think about longer season? Would you rather have more seasons, or more episodes and less seasons?

Adam Cole 2022 Prediction

Adam Cole explains why AEW All Out 2021 was a success

Did Adam Cole sign with AEW just to be with his girlfriend and best friends or did he go to win some belts? I don’t think Tony Khan watched Cole on NXT and thought “he would be a good filler”. Cole can do it all. Be the face of the company, mid-card, tag team or just be in some great matches. The sky is the limit for Cole in AEW.

So where do you go with him? Right now, its good keeping him with The Elite, but when happens when Kyle O’Reilly becomes a free agent? You already have Bobby Fish there. I can see an Undisputed Era reunion. Sadly, I think Rodrick Strong signed an extension, but with WWE cutting wrestlers on a record pace, it wouldn’t be too ridiculous to see Strong cut soon. Its not like he has a big future there anyway.

Undisputed Era vs The Elite. Even having it as the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega (God’s favorite wrestler) would be a great match. Cole and Omega can rekindle their old feud and that match would be even better if it had a title attached to it.

So where do you see happening to Adam Cole in 2022?

Big Mouth Season 5

Big Mouth Season 5: Expected Release Date on Netflix Animated Series - Daily Research Plot

Spoilers

Sadly, this is the season is the shows downfall. Big Mouth was one of my favorite shows, but they jumped the shark on this one. Why did they think breaking the 4th wall, and having character Nick meet real life Nick Kroll would be a good idea?   Worst of all, it explains how the show is just a show.

Nick would return to Earth, realizing that his life is not real at all and he’s at the mercy of the writers. Where is the comedy in that? Where is the exploring of these characters? Is he supposed to go through the rest of the series knowing he isn’t real? Does that effect the other cast members? Terrible idea and seemed like they had nothing else to do in this show. Might be overthinking a bit, but that’s how I feel.

Besides that, the season was ok. It started off really strong until it hit the Christmas episode. Again, a bad idea for an episode. You could’ve easily had a Christmas episode about the events of what’s going on, but having a random anthology again is a waste of time. It was funny, but the show overall is so well written and plots very thought out, it just seemed the writers drew a blank and thought “this is fine”.

I don’t see Big Mouth being renewed for another season and if they do, I don’t see it going on much longer. I would’ve liked to see the characters grow up every year. I don’t really know if the show follows a yearly timeline. I don’t recall a lot of holiday episodes so maybe this entire series could’ve taken place over a year or two.

Eventually they will start having sex I think, and having them do this as children would seem…..kinda weird. I mean we already had Jay and Lola do finger stuff….I don’t think I could’ve worded it better, but it happened. So sex would be the next thing the show explores, but I don’t think the show will go on long enough to get to that.

What do you think about the new season of Big Mouth and how many more season do you think it’ll go?

Is Loki Stronger Than Thor?

Still can't get over the fact that Thor literally started choking Tony in AoU and nobody blinked an eye : r/marvelstudios

Just follow me on this one.

Remember in Thor, after he got his mantle stripped by Oden and shot to Earth. Thor was just a regular guy after that. He was beating security guards on his way to recover the hammer, but wasn’t destroying them. Thor was even taking some blows by a bigger opponent.

And then you have Loki, who with one hand threw a 200+ pound Tony Stark through a window in The Avengers. Is this because Loki is an Ice Giant compacted into a Tom Hiddleston sized body or does Thor have more vanity muscles than actual strength muscles.

What about Thor’s friends? Are they enhanced by Oden in some way or just the best of the best? Just curious of what you guys think.

I Would’ve Let Him Walk

Image

Kevin Owens has resigned with the WWE for a reported 5-year contract. Now is this a good move for the WWE? I did a video about this a few weeks back, but let’s discuss this again.

Pros Of Signing Owens

-Keep a big-name talent away from other companies

-With a depleted roster, Owens can put fans in the arena and watching on tv

-Still in the prime of his career so they don’t have to do many gimmicks to keep the matches interesting

Cons

-Probably cost them an arm and a leg to keep him

-You MUST put him in the main title picture for the next 5 years

-Takes time away from other talents and prospects

Would I have kept him? No. And I’m not saying that because I want to see Owens fight Kenny Omega (the reason wrestling exists), but I wouldn’t pay Owens all the money and put him in the title picture for the rest of his career. You see that in sports like the NFL, the Quarterback gets the maximum amount of money and then the team does bad because they can’t sign free agents or keep big time talent.

What do you think about Kevin Owens resigning with the WWE and what dream matches are instore for him?

Big E: E-Mania Run

Big E is an EXTREMLY deserving WWE Champion. I think he should’ve been champion instead of Kofi Kingston. Big E has the size, the look, the moves and the feel of a long reigning champion in the WWE, but I don’t like how he won the belt from Bobby Lashley.

I feel like the Money in the Bank briefcase should be for two types of wrestlers; heels and new faces of the company. Do we really think Nikki Cross had a real chance of beating Charlotte without that briefcase? Did the Miz have a real shot at beating Drew McIntyre? No.

The Money in the Bank briefcase elevates wrestlers to where they can beat much better wrestlers quickly. Big E didn’t need that elevation. Big E should be fighting against Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns on a daily basis.  The WWE should’ve given Big E a yearlong elevation, setting him up for a nice singles career ending in a championship.

What do you think about Big E’s title reign so far and who should he fight next?

Mansoor: Its Time

Mansoor thanks hometown fans: WWE Super ShowDown 2020 (WWE Network Exclusive) - YouTube

The WWE has to go all in on Mansoor. Their NXT Middle East expansion is making progress and Mansoor is going to be a major piece. When they made a UK division of NXT, they built up Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne as the cornerstones of the brand. When Dunne won the title, I was surprised how long they kept him in the United States. He was going on a record title run and not defending it in the UK, but there was a plan all along. Make Dunne one of the top guys on NXT and he will bring the audience to the UK.

Mansoor needs to be that pushed superstar to bring fans to the new NXT brand. The problem is he’s ok. He’s put on impressive matches against Cesaro and Mustafa Ali, but these two men can make anyone look better than they are. The WWE isn’t putting enough effort into Mansoor as they should. Dunne was very unique is his style of wrestling. The finger snaps, the elbows, the Bitten End is one of the best-looking finishers today.

Mansoor doesn’t have anything that makes him stand out. I think his finisher is the springboards neck breaker, but I’m not really sure. I would send him away for about 6 months. Have him hit the gym, develop a finisher that nobody has ever seen before and really start his push. Because if its not him, then who are you building up?

So what do you think about Mansoor and if you were booking him who would he feud with?

Why I Love Hook

Update On AEW Training Progress Of Hook - WrestleTalk

I know its doesn’t make any sense. And I know how stupid it is to say it. And I know there’s no reason why I feel this way, but I love Hook. He hasn’t done anything in AEW except a few cheap shots to unsuspecting opponents. But I believe there is a plan for Hook. Team Taz is starting to look VERY interesting with the addition of Dante Martin, but I still hate that they got rid of Brian Cage. Martin is going to be a major player on Team Taz and now is the perfect time to unleash Hook on the roster.

Hooks time in AEW reminds me of Pacman Jones in TNA Wrestling. Jones wasn’t allowed to touch any of the wrestlers, but somehow had matches where he won by distracting wrestlers by throwing money at them or from outside assistance. Hook is being billed just like that, but will soon be in the fold. I would copy his father, Taz’s, move set. Just go all in on suplexes, submissions and power moves.

ftw on Twitter: "My favorite moments of the Street Fight. @MrGMSI_BCage @starkmanjones @TrueWillieHobbs @730hook #AEWRevolution https://t.co/ZnFcDIevOh" / Twitter

I think the first feud I would have for Hook would be against Orange Cassidy. Cassidy can make anyone look good with his sloth style and since Cassidy is a fan favorite, you’ll have a great crowd for that match.

But what do you guys think of Hook and what feuds would you like to see him in?
