*Spoilers*
At first, I was upset at the ending. I was waiting for a massive battle scene, two rival gangs fighting and dying to the last man. What we got was nothing like that, but somehow poetically made sense. Long story short Jared Leto’s character Nick works for the Yakuza. One member of the Yakuza betrays his family for a rival gang seeking control of the territory.
After Nicks leader is killed and his family is on the run, Nick has the idea to walk into the rival gang and ask permission to kill the traitor. The gang leader simply nods, the traitor walks up to Nick thinking he’s not going to do anything, and Nick quickly slits his throat with a swing. Nick goes back to his family and assumes the role of leader and now we sit and hope there’s a sequel.
The movie was good overall and the ending, even though it wasn’t all out war, made sense. Because if I was running a gang, why would I want a traitor in my group. Even though he betrayed them for me, there’s still a chance he can turn on me. It was a typical Netflix movie. Great cast, great story, but falls apart a bit in the end. Even though the ending made sense, its not really what a lot of fans I guess would’ve wanted to see.
But what do you guys think about it?
